Sometimes, it’s good to step back from the BIG ISSUES we Tree Service professionals face and spend a few minutes with the issues that have more nuisance value (and MUCH smaller cost components) than a 10 ton pine tree resting about halfway THROUGH your garage.
I know the above statement is a little DRAMATIC but is actually part and parcel of what we deal with at least weekly and fits nicely in with the moments of utter terror as an enormous tree defies gravity. We know what we are doing and are VERY GOOD at it but that doesn’t change our desire to do the small stuff and welcome it with open arms!
Now that brings us to projects like BRADFORD PEAR removal. (PLEASE.) There are, quite literally, TENS of THOUSANDS of Bradfords still here in the Jackson Metro area. For many years, they were the “go to” ornamental for builders and landscapers all over this area. They looked decent, grew quickly, and were CHEAP. The major flaw with this little beast didn’t show itself until MUCH later. About 14-16 years later: they weren’t designed to support their own weight! And, there comes the point where they CAN’T support their weight. They FAIL. Their tops (canopies) are just too heavy for their short base structure. Along comes a catalyst (strong wind, heavy rain, a squirrel, a sneeze) and the damage is done. They split and break away in sections. And then the hard part starts: dealing with denial. EVERYONE knows someone’s sister’s cousin (married to Bill, twice removed) THAT has a Bradford THAT broke off a section THAT is still standing! AND THAT IS MY ONLY SHADE!! O.K. TREEMAN feels your pain. BUT.
About 98 times out of every 100, the tree WILL need to be removed for any number of reasons with the number one reason being…NEVER PAY TWICE for tree cutting and debris hauling and clean up and dump fees and… Look folks. Geddie Tree Service LLC removes HUNDREDS of Bradford Pears.
It is far and away our LEAST EXPENSIVE project which means it is our least profitable project. As a business, we would do much better with our time somewhere else. That’s the truth. So please hear this plain TRUTH: When these trees split, call us and we will come and get the tree. If you REALLY want to save something, we will leave the STUMP (pun intended!).
